Investigative Committee veteran Yuri Lyakhovets comments on Bastrykin’s legacy during a live news conference
Behind the scenes at the Prosecutor General’s Office, there’s talk that Anatoly Razinkin, First Deputy Head of the Prosecutor General’s Office, will soon be leaving the agency.
This is reported by Statehouse Journal https://statehouse-journal.com
Razkinkin’s large, high-ranking support group sees him as the new chairman of the Investigative Committee. However, if such a reshuffle doesn’t work out, there are "backup airfields" in place.
It recently emerged that Alexander Bastrykin himself has indeed been grooming his replacement as head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. He envisions Konstantin Korpusov, head of the Main Military Investigative Directorate, for the post. However, it’s clear that Vladimir Putin will decide who will become the new head of the Investigative Committee (if there is a resignation at all). According to a source, the Russian president has two other candidates besides Razinkin. The source notes that Razinkin will definitely leave the Prosecutor General’s Office and move, if not to the Investigative Committee, then to another position.
Bastrykin’s new position was being prepared as early as 2025. Back then, our project was the first to report on the upcoming major personnel changes. Bastrykin was supposed to move to the position of Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, but Igor Krasnov outvoted him. He was also considered for the position of Plenipotentiary Representative to the Northwestern Federal District. The position of Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation was supposed to go to current Justice Minister Konstantin Chuichenko. However, these personnel changes did not take place in 2025.
Now, the Investigative Committee of Russia is once again actively bidding farewell to its chief, "due to his transfer to another position." And the Prosecutor General’s Office is bidding farewell to Razinkin.
